Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, anyone is able to make a request to a public authority for information. The University of Lincoln, as a public authority as defined by the Act, is obliged to provide information either through its publication scheme or in response to requests made under the general right of access.
A request for information must be made in writing (including electronic means) and the applicant is entitled to be informed; whether the information is held, to have that information communicated to them, or to be provided with an explanation why this cannot be done.

The University has adopted the model publication scheme approved by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). The University’s publication scheme is available publicly via its website and can be accessed through the web link below.
The publication scheme either indicates that information is available on the website or provides contact details for the relevant department. Staff should be aware that where the publication scheme indicates that information is held and is accessible, any request for information received should be responded to within five working days.

Right of Access
Requests for information that is not included in the publication scheme, and is not normally provided as part of routine business, should be managed in accordance with the Right of Access.

Please include your full name in the request, and your address if sending by post.
Requests received by other members of staff or departments should immediately be forwarded to the Information Compliance Team, to allow the University to respond within the twenty working days time limit.
